Privacy Policy
We founded SnapHaven to give you a place to save your photos permanently, securely and privately. Our Privacy Policy is here to inform you 1) how to keep your photos and personal information private, 2) what information we need and why, and 3) how we will treat your information. This Policy applies to all information collected and used by SnapHaven and its corporate parent or affiliates.
Any information you provide will be treated in accordance with the Swiss Data Protection laws, in particular the Swiss Data Protection Act of June 19, 1992 and any other amendments and legislation that may be adopted from time to time. SnapHaven also self certifies compliance with the Safe Harbor Framework of the U.S. Depart of Commerce in any data exchange in the U.S.A.
This means that SnapHaven complies with the highest standards of American and Swiss data protection and privacy laws to make sure we're the safest place for your photos
1. Your Personal Information
When you sign up with SnapHaven, you will set up a password-protected account. You will need to give SnapHaven your name, email address and password so that we can help (i) protect your account and (ii) communicate important information with you.
As you know, your password is necessary to access and protect your account. That being said, you should make it as secure as possible. A good password should include seemingly random numbers and letters, but whatever is easy for you to remember is what's most important - just don't make it especially obvious, like the name of your pet or your street address. You can always change your password and other account information at the "Account Settings" page. If you ever forget your password, don't worry. Just click on the "Forgot Your Password" button and we'll promptly send you a temporary password to use. Use this to log into your account and reset your password to whatever you want.
2. Information We Collect
When you buy storage space and/or order prints, gifts or other extra products or services, we'll ask for your shipping address, billing name and address and credit card number and expiration date. For your convenience, we keep this information on file so that you don't have to enter it every time you make a purchase. Remember, we'll never sell, trade, or share cardholder information to any third party at any time.
We may ask for additional information in the form of surveys or contests, which we occasionally give out to our users. Some surveys may ask for personal, demographic, and/or lifestyle information. Participation, however, is completely up to you and the only reason we ask for it is to improve SnapHaven and your experience with us. Also, we may record any transactions with Customer Service to help us provide better service and teach the friendly ways of SnapHaven to our employees.
SnapHaven uses a number of state-of-the-art protection features to secure your privacy, including Secure Socket Layers (SSLs). SSLs encrypt pages when collecting sensitive personal information such as your credit card number. They're designed to defend against identity theft and interception of your personal data while it's on the web. Whenever you are asked to enter Personal Information or credit card information at SnapHaven, the information is encrypted using SSLs.
SnapHaven saves your photos on servers that are protected against breaches by firewalls and other digital security guards. Only specially trained SnapHaven employees and our partners' employees are given access to the information and only on a need-to-know basis. All employees are legally bound to confidentiality agreements for your privacy protection.
3. Who Can See Your Pictures
Our mission is to keep your photos safe, secure, and private. We've designed our systems so that only you can control who views the pictures stored in your account. We'll never make your pictures publicly viewable or accessible without your permission. It's important to remember though, that when you share your pictures, the recipients may share your photos with others on websites, through email, or by printing them directly from a computer.
Employees of SnapHaven and its partners may also see your photos to ensure your satisfaction when we deliver prints and gifts that you order. All employees needed for these orders are legally bound to confidentiality, too.
4. Protecting the Privacy of Your Pictures
You can share your photos by selecting the ones you want and clicking "Share." Once you do this, we'll send an email to the viewers you've chosen containing a link to the pictures you've picked to share or, if you choose, provide you with a direct link to the pictures (this is useful for posting on social networking sites and other websites). The link is designed for the purpose of sharing only the photo and will not give viewers access to your account.
To help prevent misuse of your shared pictures, we've provided you with a number of security settings, including: Maximum Number of Views (if selected, sets a limit on the number of times that the link will work); View Only (if selected, disables the viewer's ability to download high-resolution copies of your pictures); and View and Download (if selected, the viewer can download and print your pictures). Remember, even with these security settings, the people you share your photos with may be able to view them, forward them, download them, copy them, print them, or post them on other websites on the net. To keep your photos as safe and private as possible, you should only share your photos with people you trust.
